Admission Arrangements

The Michael Tippett School is for students with complex learning needs.

Almost all students join TMTS at the secondary transfer stage after they leave primary school. All students entering TMTS will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This means your child will have an annual review each year during their primary education. Students join TMTS from a range of primary special schools and primary mainstream schools.

Annual reviews in year 5 and 6 will include a focus on secondary transfer; parents and carers will be asked to name three choices of school and at this stage, if you wish for your child to come to TMTS, you can say so. This annual review is passed to Lambeth Council’s Special Educational Needs Department who will process it.

Open Days and Visits

TMTS holds two open evenings every school year for prospective parents and carers who wish to visit the school. Dates for these sessions are publicised on this website.  If you would like an individual guided tour and meeting to discuss your child’s needs with a view to possible placement at TMTS, please contact the school office to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Admissions Outside of Secondary Transition

Occasionally, some students join the school mid-year. For example, they transition in from another secondary special school. In such instances, you should contact Lambeth Council’s Special Educational Needs Department or General Admissions Department. Please follow the link below for more details.
